Henry Yates Thompson Fundraising Dinner

Last Night we were lucky enough to be invited to the Henry Yates Thompson fundraising dinner at the Palm house in Sefton park. I have never actually been there before so was so excited to finally see it, It Didn’t Disappoint. It was Beautiful I felt like I was in a forest, with all the different sizes of palm trees and all the blossoming flowers in there, it was the perfect setting for an even More Magical Night.

This was the 3rd Successful Annual Fundraising Dinner Sponsored by the Amazing Liverpool Gin and The Brilliant Blue Air, the Night Raised A total of over £10,000 what an incredible amount to go to such a worthy cause.

We Managed to catch up with the event Organiser Mr James Devlin and he wanted to personally thank all the fantastic sponsors and all the attendees for their donations throughout the night and for making the night such a success. They wouldn’t Have been able to do it without all the different people involved. So, A massive thankyou to everyone on behalf of James.

The night Had So Many Special touches, there was A beautiful 4 course meal, Dance groups, Aerialist, stilt walkers and acrobatics and the final touch was the spectacular Firework Display that rounded off the evening perfectly.

Dirty Dancing Live @ Baltic warehouse

Last night was AMAZING!!!! Luckily, I got invited down to the live showing of dirty dancing at the Baltic warehouse, to celebrate dirty dancing’s 30th Birthday. It was such an incredible night full of laughs happy faces and a whole lot of dancing and singing.

Me, Ian and his friend Matty got prime seats right at the front on the V.I.P table. We were really looked after the whole night we had the best seats in the house. There was a whole menu of Liverpool gin based cocktails with dirty dancing themed cocktail names. Ian was drinking “baby be good” and I had “the time of my life” (quite literally!) the film started about 10pm. The people around us on other tables seemed like they were having a fantastic night themselves, everyone was whooping and cheering every time Mr Swayze graced our screen.  The highlight of my night was when the dancing flash mob came running in during certain scenes and gave us a dancing spectacular. They were full of energy and made me want to get up and dance as well it was FAB.

Around half way through the film and a couple of drinks later we decide to get some food as we were a bit peckish. It’s a good job there was some food vendors there. We decided to get the steamed buns, I went with the Korean chicken it was so good the sauce was quite sweet and it was full of spring onions. I must say I hadn’t tried or even heard of a steam bun before but id deffo recommend them there soft and remind me of a small doughy pitta bread.

This night was all round brilliant and an excellent way to end a long working week. If you ever get chance go to one of these events, then do you won’t be disappointed!

It was a GINsational night sponsored by Liverpool gin.

Death Row Diner

It’s been a while since I last did a post due to personal circumstances but I’m BACK! And guess where I got invited to last week…..Death Row Diner on hope street, Liverpool. I have heard so many positive things about this place since it’s been open so it was a pleasure to have been asked. We got there and it was in a basement under 32 hope street and had a massive load of stirs to get down first, it was a good feeling though because I didn’t know what to expect when I got to the bottom. It was all low red lighting and long brown benches and tables. This is deffo what I would expect if I was on Death row.

We had a lovely male waiter that took us to our table and explained the menu to us, It was really simple to understand actually (this is always a bonus).  Instead of getting a starter and then a main we decided to go all in and just have it all at once. I feel like it’s always better to be able to have a pick at different stuff! So I ordered the maple popcorn chicken, smoke me burger (the burger comes on its own FYI) and coconut curry fries! Ian decided to have the maple bacon onion rings, double bacon cheese burger and the chicken gravy fries.

We didn’t have a long wait before the food came over in little silver takeaway cartons, there was such a vast amount of armorers it was hard to decide what to eat first. It hard to put into words exactly how delicious the food was I think my fave’s where the Maple popcorn chicken and the coconut curry fries. The sweet and the savoury mix of flavours just carried themselves so well together.  If you was on death row then this would definitely be the most amazing food to consume before you met your end.

I literally can’t praise the staff enough either, nothing was too much trouble and there was always someone on hand if you had any questions regarding any of the food or drink.

If you Go on a Thursday then DRD are giving its lovely customers a free dessert on them as a thankyou! I’d have to recommend the diam bar cheesecake it ticked all my dessert boxes. Not going to Lie I did have to take it home to eat as I was so full from all the amazing food.

Death Row Diner is Deffo one of my top 3 faves!

Empire Shack Sample Night.

Empire Dub Shack Review – October 2016

We were recently fortunate enough to be very kindly invited along by Amanda Moss Of Amanda Moss PR to come and sample the delectable new menu that Empire were serving up,
I was quite surprised to hear of this new late night club branching out into food, but nether less was very hungry and very interested, so we popped along to Seel Street.
Empire has a reputation for being a high class bar, and approaching the venue the exterior was very modern and clean.
Inside,  there was an array of what I would describe as barrel tables and chairs, with a long stretched table in the middle – this seems ideal for an meetings or conferences with the bar only a few steps away – what more could you ask for?
We were fortunate enough to get a table just situated opposite the shack, and this did stand out like a sore thumb – BUT for all the right reasons, cleverly tucked under the staircase, the purposely run down  build shed adds authentic character to the feel of the bar and with the bare essentials compliments the quirkiness of the bar.
Simply decorated with a bright Neon sign, this gave a feel that we were contestants on I’m a celebrity get me out of here!
I could not have been more wrong! The food was served on wooden platters, and was tastefully decorated with garnish and dressing to compliment the mouth-watering, appetite teasing food, even writing this now, I can feel my mouth watering up just simply talking about the food, the food was served to us by very friendly waiting staff, who were happy to explain what was on each burger, the thing that stood out for me is you could taste the freshness of the meat, and the crispness of the salad, none of this pre bagged supermarket stuff,
As the evening went on, we decided to sample the cocktails, I had “Clockwork Orange” this just complimented the food that we were sampling, not to bitter and not to sweet, in the words of Goldilocks, this was just right.

These little appetisers really should have been called apperteasers, as you could smell the food cooking, the whole concept of “the shack” really does provide great value for money and with 50 % for the duration of October – you simply cannot complain, the food is reasonably priced, and provided a great atmosphere for an early supper or late night snack

Empire is located 57 – 59 Seel Street, Liverpool and is open 7 days a week (Monday – Friday 18:00pm – 22:00pm and Saturday/Sunday 12:00pm – 21:00pm)
If you are on twitter give then a follow @empiredubshack

One thing is for sure, this is definitely a place to keep an eye on! Get the food whilst you can!14606471_1936217176605515_2786459149295752214_n

Around The World, Liverpool

AROUND THE WORLD LIVERPOOL

img_0257

On 4th August 2016, we paid a visit to Around the World, part of the Bierkeller complex in Liverpool One, I personally have never been for a night out in the Bierkeller and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they have a menu, I was expecting yourtraditional run of the mill quite honestly, boring pub food –  I was pleasantly surprised at how wrong I was.

We arrived at the venue, and were greeted by a warm and friendly staff member, who seemed genuinely pleased to make our acquaintance, we were shown to our table and were left for a few moments to browse the drinks menu, I was quite surprised to see Around the World had a selected cocktails at 2 4 1 I also  noticed the other offers that they did in Around the world included: half price food on Mondays– If we were impressed by today, we would definitely be coming back for more at half price – Double for your money – how can you complain ?

After deciding what we wanted to drink ( we were boring and settled for a glass of coke each)  the very lovely server came over and took our order, after much umming and arring (Those who know me know I am so indecisive when it comes to food) we settled on having Burgers: we went for the Cheese and bacon Burgers, by now I could smell the food cooking and was eager to try what seemed to be mouth-watering food, eyeing up the other diners food, I could not wait, the food seemed to be mouth-watering and looked like it was oozing with taste,  I could tell by the look of the other Diners in the reasonably busy bar they were in food heaven!
Whist waiting I took time to look at the interior décor in around the word and the Bierkeller as a whole, Around the Word in particular had a very warm and welcoming feel, the glass sliding doors complimented the Layout perfectly, an open plan kitchen and bar area added to the authenticity of the venue with neutral grey colours proves that the venue could cater for all ages, from families to nights out, there was ample background noise from music playing, this was just right, there was no noise from the other bars also contained in the Bierkeller, that’s not to say that no one was in the venue, but this is a credit to the layout and the ability to cater to all different tastes

Finally after what seemed like an eternity (More like 15 minutes) our food arrived, I could smell the food, (I am pleased to say the Cover photo for our Blog is the actual burger in question)
The burger was stacked tall with fillings, not to much salad, and not to much sauce either, the bacon was cooked to a standard that was just excellent, there was no fat on the bacon at all, that just complimented the high quality of the food that we had been served
After pouring Vinegar on the chips, I could hear them sizzling away, this again, compliments the fact that the food was freshly prepared, none of this kept warm rubbish,

We were barely talking whilst eating, just savouring every moment of the delicious burger, the Mince used was of a fine quality and was cooked just right and this was for me, The pièce de résistance.

After finishing the Bacon and cheese burger, we were both left feeling very full, and just in awe at the amazing quality of the food, one thing that we feel is a credit to Around the Word is that we were not ushered out and away, like some places do more left to socialise and finish our drinks,
I noticed around the place that Around the world had some great offers on such as £4 pizza (Yes £4 pizza!) upon leaving we were thanked for coming, I felt that it should have been the other way around as we were treated like absolute royalty,

All in all, Around the world is an excellent venue situated right in the Heart of Liverpool one (If you don’t already know) one thing is for sure, we will definatley be returning to this special place!

Around the Word can be found in Twitter @LVPL_ATW or their website is www.atw.com for booking enquiries phone: 08455 333 000, Keep an eye out on their Twitter Page for their latest offers, and also keep an eye out on A Blogs Life, as we will keep you posted with all the offers that Around the World.

Be At One Cocktail Bar

So as everyone knows Sundays are probably the most boring day of the week. Everyone is using this day of the week to either recover from the weekend or to get themselves ready for work on Monday! Not us we decided to get dressed up and head over to Liverpool for some cheeky cocktails and where better to go than be at one on seel street.

Tucked away on Seel Street, this place really is a hidden gem!
What a beautiful place inside with vibrant colours and a really well presented back bar! As we walked in through the door we were greeted by a lad behind the bar who greeted us with a big smile and a wave, we were told that it was 2 for 1 on the cocktails All evening this was not going to end well! We had a little look at the menu as to what cocktails where available I can Honestly say I have never seen such a wide variety of cocktails there was something for everyone.  On the very first page was a specialised wheel, very much like the wheel of fortune (and every spin was a win!) it helped you to decide what sort of cocktail you wanted it was an absolute god send if like us, you didn’t know what you wanted to drink!

First up on my list was the “painkiller” this was a rum based cocktail (anyone that knows me knows how I feel about rum) it was really pretty to look at it was a yellow colour due to the pineapple it was presented with pineapple leaf and a dried piece of pineapple for décor sprinkled with nutmeg, it was just divine and so flavoursome.

After I finished that cocktail I decided to go for something completely different something a bit sweeter so I went for the candy pants this was a vodka based drink and was so sweet if you have a sweet tooth this is perfect for you I think I would only ever need one of them as I personally don’t have a massive sweet tooth when it comes to my alcohol choices, I’m a bit of a fussy one really J

All that alcohol Had gone to my head by now so I decided to go and get some air outside as outside areas go I felt like I was in royalty it had vast amount of seating a covered area and Heaters, Like actual working Heaters that’s a rarity this day and age! We had such a superb night in there the music was top class the staff couldn’t be any more helpful if they tried and you really could tell that they enjoyed working there, the staff were all in high spirits and nothing was too much trouble for them.

All in all, this place gets top marks from us it’s a really nice place to hang out after work right up to a date for two!

Be at one have a very Special “Happy Hour” (Even though it is longer) with TWO FOR ONE DRINKS*

Wall Of Fame

This little Establishment situated on Victoria street/Matthew street was really quite surprising, from the outside it looks quite small but upon entering I didn’t realise how big it actually was.
The whole bar and restaurant area was American themed it had a lovely atmosphere when you walked in through that door, we were greeted by a young chap behind the bar called Tom, he walked us on down to the restaurant at the back and passed us over to the girl looking after the restaurant area.

We were both seated at a nice table for 2, and were left for a few minutes to gather our thoughts and get comfy, and to make a start on looking at the menu, this is always a pet hate of mine when going out to eat being questioned as soon as you have sat down! Well done wall of fame on that point J.
The menu was still kept in with the American theme and was really easy to read and to also understand, the different types of food was explained underneath which was a massive help as being a girl I’m so indecisive it made choosing something to eat that little bit more enjoyable!

We both decided to go with the 2 mains and 2 sides for £20 offer, (Available Sunday – Thursday before 6pm) I chose the mac daddy with bacon and cheese fries and he chose the philly cheese burger also with bacon and cheese fries and a bucket of onion rings, while we waited for our food to cook we got to have a proper look around the place and take in all the magnificent details that have been put into this special little place. I have to say that the florescent lights hanging around the place where my favourite (I’m trying to find some of my own) it gave a real cosy feel to the place, on the wall just to the left of our seat was a massive Mural of the Beatles in front of the liver building great touch of home in the masses of American replica. In my eyes, over to the right of the table was a glass cabinet with a drum kit in and some guitars hanging up on the walls It was a splendid touch and complemented the decor of the bar well!

The food came over and I have never seen such mouth-watering food before the burgers was huge and jam packed with little bits and bobs and the bacon fries…..BEST I have ever had these meals where not short of flavors sat there I genuinely felt like I was in America the staff left us alone to eat as well they just seemed to come over at the right time!

All in all, I would Hugely recommend you take a trip to Wall of fame it would suit any budget and is a really good family environment to be in, good for a meal and for a night out as they do live music on a Friday and Saturday night, what more would you want from a place J.
We will be back to try the cocktails at some point in the near future and also the regular great offers they post on their Twitter page, we also want to try the Deep fried Oreo’s but we were far to stuffed from all that great food.

Liverpool Loves Festival

So I was at a bit of a loose end on the 6th of august, I had a free Saturday with nothing planned and the sun was shining, I had a look at a few things to do but decided on going to the Liverpool loves festival on the Liverpool pier. What a fantastic choice I made the atmosphere was electric! Everywhere I looked there was something to do, there was 5 stages of live music all different genres of music I have to say though my favorite stage was the igloo with their funky disco music it was full of so many different age groups all there to have a good time. I went outside for some air once I had finished having a dance and to check out some of the stalls and workshops they had, my first port of call was the gin bar I spotted I’ve never seen so many different types of gin before and they weren’t bad for price either, next up was the sky swing I’ve been meaning to go on that since it arrived in Liverpool however after looking up at the people on it I changed my mind I don’t think alcohol and heights would mix very well.  Next I spotted a glitter stall there was some beautiful designs done by the girls in the marquee some lad even had his whole beard covered in green glitter!

A bit further up from the glitter marquee was a circus skills workshop for the kids which is a fantastic idea it makes it enjoyable for all the family the kids looked like they were having so much fun spinning plates and doing a bit of Ariel hoop, I carried on walking down towards the entrance there was so many food huts along the way and they all smelt so good and looked absolutely incredible.

All in all, Liverpool loves was a fun packed day with masses of variety and all for FREE where such a lucky City!

Santa Maluco Launch

Santa Maluco Launch Night -13th July 2016

Located in the shadow of the Town Hall, Santa Maluco sits in an ideal location, from the outside Santa Maluco appears to not offer much, however, inside a Whole different experience awaits.
With a modern quirky feel about the place, with its carefully chosen décor and intimate feel, you can certainly feel the atmosphere, in The bar area, quirky designed tables are aplenty for people to socialise and chat, and with window bays with seats and cushions and dim lighting to offer that certain intimate touch it certainly offers that homely feel the graffiti style walls also adds to the unique feel of the place, .
Having already seen several pizzas served, I had highs expectations, the food looked absolutely divine, and I was not wrong, the Duck pizza I had was simply mouth-watering, you can tell these pizzas have been made with affection and enthusiasm, I was simply in food heaven, I have to say (so far) this was the best pizza I have ever tasted, it wasn’t to greasy, and it wasn’t too under cooked it was just right, Sadly I never got to try the desert pizza, but wow, they looked lovely, it was evident to see the craftsmanship that has gone into making these pizza’s and they were not disappointing.

One thing I simply had to try was the Legendary cocktails, it was suggested to try the world famous $5 shake cocktail, after seeing them being served during the night to various people, I had to try one, I admit, I did have mu initial reservations about trying cream and vodka together, BUT how wrong I was, this cleverly mixed combination tingled all the taste buds, served in an authentic milk bottle (Yes milk bottle) topped with whipped cream, this cocktail was by far in my list of top cocktails that I have ever had, and I have to say this went down a little to nicely after having this cocktail, I am sure I will be back on many more occasions to slowly drink my way through the Cocktail menu next on the list: Bubble-gum  Sour

The staff in Santa Maluco are an absolute credit to the business, the bar tenders, offer suggestions on what would be the best drink to try and the servers offer you guidance on what would be the best to eat, I didn’t understand what the little wheel was for but that again adds to the uniqueness of the venue.

Overall Santa Maluco is going to be one venue to definitely keep any eye on, set right in the heart of the business district, this venue is sure to be a hit with both office workers and those looking for a unique dining experience, opening from 12 – 12 each day, this place will be ideal if you fancy a light bite for lunch, or a full blown evening meal, one thing is for sure, Santa Maluco will not disappoint.
